Finance Manager- Zimbabwe
An awesome opportunity exists for an energetic, highly motivated, qualified finance professional to join our team as Finance Manager, reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer. The role is responsible for producing valid, accurate and complete financial reporting for the operating entities within their remit, including reviewing and submitting various statutory and tax obligations in those geographies. The role will also directly manage a team of financial accountants who will assist in producing the financial results.
Internal Liaison takes place with the accounts team and payroll as well as other non-finance functions to increase the value Finance contributes to the organisation. External liaison takes place with 3rd party consultants as well as the tax authorities across the regions in which Mukuru trades.
This individual will form a key role in the journey to transform the team into a “World Class” finance function including driving best practice and personal development of their direct reports.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility to the Chief Accounting Officer for the valid, accurate and complete presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual results of the Group subsidiaries under your remit
- Commitment to improving the quality of our reporting across the balance sheet, including introducing best practices in our month-end reconciliations and related reconciling items as well as working capital analysis and efficiency improvements.
- Timely review of all supporting documentation for the results including bank reconciliations, journals, balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the financial accountants
- Review of the monthly reconciliations with third party pay-in and pay-out partners.
- Timely and accurate review of relevant tax submissions in conjunction with the Group tax department for the Group subsidiaries under your remit
- Assistance in the delivery of the year-end audit including drafting the statutory financial statements with the Financial Accountants for review by the Chief Accounting Officer
- Submission of various other statutory or regulatory obligations for the entities under your remit
- Involvement in various finance improvement projects, including system implementations, month end process efficiencies, new market expansion and business maturity workstreams
- Internal liaison with other departments to assist in solving commercials issues as they arise
- Manage the professional development of your teams including regular reviews and feedback as well mentoring individual training plans.
Key requirements
- CA(SA) or equivalent qualification
- 3-5 years post article experience
- Experience of multi-national Groups structures, preferably across the African continent and/or the UK
- Finance business systems experience across ERP platforms, preferably Netsuite
- Experience in preparing/reviewing VAT and Corporate tax returns which will be delivered in conjunction with the internal Tax function
- Experience working in financial services or highly regulated industries beneficial
- Experience working in high growth/fast-moving organisations
- Advanced time management and organisational skills
- Developed team management skills to ensure an engaged, high functioning team
- Advanced MS Office skills
