We are on the lookout for a Product Owner to drive strategy, execution, and continuous improvement for core products in our Remittances & Payments domain. This is a high-impact role where you’ll be working closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver critical financial services that millions of customers rely on.

Why This Role Matters
As a Product Owner, you’ll work with one of our core agile product teams to design, build and iterate on services at the heart of the Mukuru ecosystem. You’ll own the product roadmap, contribute to strategy, and champion delivery with a strong focus on innovation, scalability, and customer value.
This role requires a strong balance of technical acumen, product thinking, and collaboration. You’ll need to understand how systems fit together, how they scale, and how to translate business needs into practical solutions that developers can build and stakeholders can trust.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for our core remittance and payment services
  • Define and maintain a clear product roadmap, prioritizing features that align with business strategy and customer needs
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, customers, and technical teams to identify opportunities, define solutions, and translate them into well-structured stories and requirements
  • Champion the voice of the customer, ensuring usability, consistency, and real-world value in every product increment
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and align with modern architecture and integration patterns
  • Manage a refined, prioritized backlog with clarity on scope, priority, and acceptance criteria
  • Drive and facilitate agile ceremonies in collaboration with the Scrum Master
  • Partner with other product owners across Mukuru to deliver integrated solutions and cross-functional features
  • Own and coordinate production releases, ensuring quality, readiness, and stakeholder alignment
  • Keep up to date with market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies relevant to fintech, payments, and digital platforms

What You Bring

  • A qualification in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (Desirable)
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or other IT role in a fast-paced digital environment
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience working with engineering teams to define technical requirements, APIs, and integrations
  • Ability to work across multiple teams and stakeholders with confidence and clarity
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Familiarity with system architecture, microservices, and modern backend/front-end stacks
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, and visual

Bonus Points

  • Fintech or financial services experience (especially remittances, payments, or card processing)
  • Experience with compliance-heavy domains (KYC, AML, regulatory integrations)
  • Familiarity with digital wallets, cross-border payments, or emerging markets
  • Relevant certifications in Product Ownership, Business Analysis, or Agile frameworks
  • Experience using tools like Jira, Confluence, Figma, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar
